February 20, 2010 Snowshoe Trip(2)

On Wednesday March 11th, 2009 a group of Trout Unlimited members from three Wisconsin chapters participated in an exploration of Evergreen River. The purpose of the trip was to locate any flow restriction problems. Future trips are being planned to continue the exploration south, all the way to the Menominee Reservation.

After a campfire lunch, the group hiked one and a half miles to the headwaters of Evergreen River, Flora Springs. Two beaver dams were located at the outlet of the spring. GPS coordinates were taken, and sent to the DNR.
On Monday March 16th, the DNR notified T.U. that the dams would be removed

October 25, 2008

Saturday, October 25 was the scheduled brush and bundling project that Mark and the boys helped TU members on Ninemile creek.  We made good progress with the project although much work remains.  More brushing and bundling will be scheduled for 2009, so keep tuned for upcoming dates.

Jim and Sharon Waters prepaired lunch for all at the Waters bunk house.

July 07, 2008

Six members of the DNR along with seven members of the Wolf River chapter of Trout Unlimited took part in a brushing and bundling project on Nine Mile creek west of Hwy 55. The project cleared brush from Hwy 55 to the old Soo Line rail road trestle. Brushing and bundling is done to improve habitat for trout. Beaver dam removal is also part of this project. Tree planting is also being looked at by the DNR as a project for next spring.

Lunch was prepared by Joanne Climie and served by Barry Climie.

Nine Mile Creek Cleanup Day

A trash clean-up day was held on May 17th. By word of mouth advertising 19 people showed up to help by Nine Mile Creek. Earl Clay suggested the clean up and he got permission from Shirley Ingram to go over her land for the cleanup. It started at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 12:30 p.m. The group collected 3 pick-up loads and 2 trailer loads of trash including car frames.
